Hi. I’m Emily. I created YouMode. I’m a West Virginia native navigating the smoggy, beautiful chaos that is surviving in Los Angeles.

Some of my hobbies: creating things (especially with paper), organization in many forms, and exercising (but not running–let’s be clear here). Life goals include adopting a pig, writing a book, and someday learning to roll my ‘R’s.

I received my Master’s in Public Health (MPH) with an additional graduate Certificate in Women’s Health from West Virginia University. I am also a Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES). I’ve spent the last six years in Los Angeles, working as a weight loss consultant and overseeing a program that delivers nutrition education to low-income children and their families.

This website continues to experience an ongoing identity crisis as I try to figure out how to combine mental health, creative expression, blogging, and DIY adventures into a messy, relatively meaningful little bundle.

Twenty-twenty and beyond has put a spotlight on the importance of kindness, patience, and empathy. If anything, I hope this website and some of the blog entries make you leave feeling a little more human.
